Robert & Ashley: A Long Distance Love Affair

Ashley and Robert met like most modern couples these days….at a party. Robert was throwing a party for Ashley’s sister, and although the ladies were late the sparks quickly flew between them and they knew their story wouldn’t end there. Two days later Robert’s Navy orders came through for his new station, JAPAN! Talk about a long distance relationship.

Fast forward to New Years Eve in Japan. There was a shrine right down the road from their home, so they had went to celebrate the New Year there with the locals and some of their friends. Little did Ashley know, Robert had invited their friends to make sure someone was recording and someone was taking pictures. Right at midnight he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! And of course Ashley said YES!

“Long distance is hard, but worth every single minute! If you can get through years of living in different countries on different time zones, everything else just seems so much smaller!” -Ashley

Wedding planning had begun and the couple didn’t have to look much further than their hometown of Carrollton Ohio to find a venue that fit the Rustic Elegance theme Ashley had dreamt of for their wedding day. Both Ashley and Robert fell in love with the beauty of the barn and its warm inviting feel.

Shortly after booking Century Farms the couple moved to South Carolina and began planning their entire wedding from out of state.

The couple really wanted to highlight their families, and the love that made them who they are today. The formal dances held a special place in both of their hearts, especially their first dance as Husband and Wife. Ashley also planned a few surprise dances with some special people in their lives.
